My child, you ever wonder why
April is a mourning time
Wounding our souls
That have never healed since the day the Republic of Vietnam died.
“Why did you risk your life and leave everything behind?”
Listen my child, here’s why
The Commies: the Red Devils of our time (1)
They took the North and forced their way
Into the South and committed a horrendous human crime.
At any cost, they desperately wanted a victory
We know their true color - lies, and cruelty,
That’s why we fled to the South in 1954
As the country was divided by the Geneva Treaty.
For 20 years, the North had lived in poverty
Uncivilized and out of reality
Men, women perished along Truong Son mountain war trail.
The Commies never stopped their desire to dominate the Southeast Asian countries.
For 20 years, as frontier of freedom
We protected the people and the country we loved
We won the battles but not the war
Because the allies abandoned us for their political goals.
30 April, 1975 the bitter end finally came
The country reunited but the people of South Vietnam fled again.
They rushed out to the South Sea seeking refuge (2)
To escape the revenge and avoid life with the Commies.
People again suffered and were heartbroken
Education camp was just a disguised prison
The small boats swamped the sea.
Run, run, run …
By all means we must leave.
Hundreds of thousands reached shores, hundreds of thousands perished
The world was touched, “Boat People” in dire need
The tragedy was unprecedented in human kind
The Commies did their best to rewrite history and hide their crimes
But nothing could hide the truth
The world has finally understood
Down and out with the Red Devils
If the people could leave, they all would!
“Now you have freedom in your foster land,
Why continue to protest against the Commies gang?”
Listen my child,
We must help our countrymen
Rid the Commies! The Red Devils must be condemned!
People could not speak, we have to,
People could not see, we have to,
People could not protest, we have to,
For the love of our countrymen, we must do.
To the day Vietnam is liberated,
The people must have human rights and the Commies must be defeated.
April will be a month of celebration,
For a long lasting reunification!
